"We only love you, Jay ... "

Game's over and CBS announcer Jay Bilas's job is over for the night. As he begins to head out of the arena, he stops to shake hands with some UNC fans on the front row. They tell him he's the only (former) Duke player they've ever liked. He smiles and says thanks. As he walks away, we challenge the fans, telling them surely they must have liked Grant Hill, too. (I mean, who didn't like Hill?) They smile and concede. "We just wanted to make Jay feel good," one of them says.

I am a Tar Heel born and bred and I think Jay Bilas is an EXCELLENT color commentary man. He makes more sense than any other one including Dicky V. Bilas tells it like it is no matter what...his comments are always insightful and correct. Plus when he interviews Psycho T, Jay is tall enough to look him in the eye and not at his chest. :)

To be born and raised a Tarheel and now an alumnus of the great school I have to admit there have been few Duke players that I could stand. Laettner was the ultimate punk, Cherokee Parks a cry baby, McRoberts a phony; I can't express to you in words how much I couldn't stand those players. However, somehow Jay Bilas has managed to soften my heart towards Duke alumni due to his excellent analysis, objectivity, and basketball intelligence. The guy knows the game very well and his commentary is excellent. Congrats Jay on being one of the few likeable Dukies alongside of Grant Hill and Shane Battier. Maybe you should think about coaching????

Another Carolina fan here who thinks Bilas is the best and most objective college basketball analyst "in the game" today.

I agree with the comments about Jay, but I just want to point out that Dickie V predicted 3 of the 4 final four this year pre season. He had UCLA 5th. just saying

I had an employee from Greensboro who is a long time Duke fan and had the ultimate "man-crush" on Bilas. Years ago when Bilas was just getting his feet wet in announcing, I called and asked him to stop in at Harper's in Southpark and just speak to the guy on his birthday. Unbelievably, Bilas went out of his way to stop in and give this guy a lifetime memory. Only the good guys in life care enough about other humans to consider how they impact others' lives. Bilas is not only a fantastic announcer, I promise you he is as real and sincere as anyone in the broadcasting business.
