Poetic predictions for Southern Conference

Predicting college basketball events shouldn't be this easy.

Before the season, I said here that Davidson would be 23-6 at this point in the season, and that's exactly where Davidson is entering the Southern Conference tournament. O.K., so the Wildcats got to that mark a little different than I expected, but that's still pretty good.

Ah, but people doubted and called me crazy on Feb.1 when I said here that Davidson could go undefeated in conference play, get ranked and earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Yet, the Wildcats have done the first two things, but they might not need the third. That's because Davidson is the heavy favorite in the conference tournament.

But will the Wildcats win their third straight conference title when the tournament opens today? Let me give you hints through haikus.

Do they even play hoops there?
Nope. Not this season.

O Chattanooga.
Sharp elbows and thugs abound.
All that, and no dance.

Did someone mention
Non N. C. schools in hoops games?
Hardly worth the ink.

The outstretched hands of Kyle Hines.
The wind? No. Curry.

Like thund'rous bolts. Like daggas.
