Aminu staying at Wake

Freshman forward Al-Farouq Aminu (at left in AP photo), widely expected to enter the NBA Draft in June, will return for his sophomore season at Wake Forest, the school's sports information office has announced.

"My family and I feel like now is not the right time," Aminu said in a statement released by Wake.

The 6-foot-9 forward from Norcross, Ga., who is listed among the top 15 picks in numerous mock drafts, averaged 12.9 points and 8.2 rebounds his freshman season.

"His decision reflects his maturity and his understanding that he needs to develop certain areas of his game," Wake coach Dino Gaudio said in a prepared statement.

Unlike some of his fellow players on his team, he wants to actually win a big college game before the NBA.

Wake Choke Forest is what I call them right now.

This is old news, another outlet already reported this last week. This newspaper sucks!

A Wake Forest aricle? I was really interested in seeing what type of toothpaste Ty Lawson uses, or what Wayne Ellington's favorite TV shows are. Perhaps the disturber can get back to its regular tar heel worship tomorrow and give us Roy Williams' "Top Five" places to eat at Chapel Hill!

George Shinn,

Maybe if Weak Forest would actually win something...ie. ACC Regular season champ, ACC Tourney, "a" game in the Big Dance, then the Disturber would have more to say about your team.

App Grad,

I had to look this up to make sure you had a basketball team. Congratulations on your 13-18 record this year. Come football season someone may actually care about your opinion.

Small Biz. Guru,
I'm a Wake Forest fan too, but you and other Wake fans need to significantly lower your standards! You criticize Teague and Johnson for not winning a "big college game," but did you forget that Wake beat #1 UNC and #1 Duke in consecutive weeks which had Wake fans storming the court? You need to realize that Wake Forest overachieved 2 years ago at 17-13; they did not have a senior on that team, and only added 1 freshman that played significant minutes since. Is that enough to make them an elite team? Regardless, Wake has not played a good NCAA tournament game this decade! Your expectations are too high, along with the hundreds of Wake Forest fans that left the "Dino Gaudio Fans" for the "Fire Dino Gaudio" group on Facebook.

I am a Carolina graduate and give Wake Forest Basketball its due credit. Since James Worthy and Michael Jordan the only players who will make the NBA Hall of Fame are from Wake Forest; Tim Duncan(Definitely) and Chris Paul(In Time).....

No one gives a flip about Wake - except for their terrible fans - who actually manage to behave terribly when watching Wake lose in multiple senses of the word terrible. If I see one more ridiculous tie-dye shirt or again hear that abominable disco song that hilariously excites a seemingly pathetic audience - I will weep and gnash my teeth.

What a sad pathetic joke.

Aminu may just save Wake from being NIT-bound next year...but I doubt it.

Wake...haha. They really are a joke.
