Duke's Smith questionable for ACC Tournament

Duke reserve guard Nolan Smith participated in “light basketball activities” Tuesday for the first time since suffering a concussion on Feb. 25, team spokesman Matt Plizga said.

Smith is listed as questionable for the tournament as the Blue Devils seek larger contributions from their bench. Duke’s reserves totaled zero points in 19 minutes during Sunday’s loss at North Carolina.

“I think our guys coming off the bench are in good spots now,” said forward Gerald Henderson. “It just was a game where that’s just how it turned out. It wasn’t anything where Coach didn’t trust guys, because we’ve had guys come up with big plays during the season.” - Ken Tysiac

Most sports fans in Charlotte could care less about the acc. We all moved here from other eareas of the country and there is not even an acc team within 150 mikes of this city.

Since most of the Observer staff went to school in chapel hill and think we're all supposed to bow down to them, the sports fans in Charlotte are forced to read this junk.

I agree with that comment. I moved here from New York and you will never see a New York paper smearing the first 5 pages of the sports section with teams located 200 miles away.

You all are welcome to your opinion and I have lived where I did not get my team's information either. But this is ACC territory. Most of the people you see in Charlotte went to ACC schools. Especially your doctors and lawyers as well as teachers and dentists! Please do not
begrudge us the few things we enjoy in our old age. One of them is OUR TEAM!! GO, DUKE!!!

How can anyone talk bad about the ACC Coverage? Its a proven fact that the ACC is the toughest basketball conference in the country. The UNC-Duke Rivalry is the most watched rivalry game of all college sports. Dean Smith is the highest rated coach in the nation and Roy Williams has already been elected to the Hall of Fame. Before you start to criticize get your facts straight first. TARHEELS all the way in 2009!!!!

You may have moved from somewhere else but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate good basketball. Besides, newspapers historically focus on local sports. If you don't like it, that's why God invented Sportscenter.

If you yankees don't like ACC basketball etc, God also invented the northbound lanes of I-85 and I-77. Hit the road.
