Redick congratulates Hansbrough on record

CHAPEL HILL — Orlando Magic guard J.J. Redick called UNC's Tyler Hansbrough on Friday to congratulate the forward on breaking his ACC career scoring record.

"It was a little awkward, because I've never talked to J.J. very much; I don't really know him well,'' Hansbrough said. "But when you have a great college player like that who calls you, who's accomplished a lot, you just beat a record -- it just means a lot. And to just kind of push away the Duke-UNC thing, to try to get over that, it was a little difficult, but it was something you have to grow up and do sometimes."

Redick also told Hansbrough he figured before the season that the record would fall, and wished the senior the best of luck. The Tar Heels play Gonzaga in the NCAA regional semifinals on Friday.

Tyler's comments post-conversation with J.J. sound so incredibly immature. Seriously, he can't just say it was nice of him to call without talking about it being "awkward" or pushing aside the Duke-UNC rivalry thing. Here is a tip that should get you far in life, Tyler, just say "thank you," be gracious, and move on. How old is he and he feels awkward because the guy whose record he broke played for Duke?

Duke = No Class

Even Redick has said that if he hadn't attended Duke, he would hate them as well.

Go Heels!!!!

Hansbrough's just dumb as rocks. JJ called him like a man to say, "Congrats, you beat my record by shooting fifteen bajillion free throws", and Tyler gets all sheepish and awkward.

Hansbrough apparently will NOT be calling up the person who breaks his new mark. Classy. And this is coming from a State fan.

The entire time the conversation was going on Tyler was probably looking for his contact on the floor. Guy is a doofus

How the heck did you deduce that Hansbrough won't call the person who breaks his record? Because he said it was awkward talking to a guy he didn't know well? Man, just brilliant.

I guess the most hated player in basketball history is actually a pretty good guy, while Carolina's oafish Golden Boy is just an ungrateful moron.

He seemed pretty grateful to me. He did call him one of the greatest college basketball players of all time. And he probably made that comment about the rivalry because a lot of people would've asked him a question about it had he not. Or maybe he was asked about it when he mentioned. But you genius Duke fans never thought of that.

My opinion, he should have sent that D-bag to voicemail because no one gives a crap if Reddick thanks him or not. JJ needs to worry about trying to get some run in the league anyways. And to the State fan, don't even worry about this, worry about that moron Lowe whos got you losing on the reg.

JJ needs to worry about getting run? Hah. I guarantee he'll have more career minutes than Hansbaby will.
