North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson has qualified to have his No. 5 honored and hung in the Smith Center rafters by being named a second-team All-America by The Sporting News.
Forward Tyler Hansbrough, a first-team All-America for the fourth consecutive time, has already qualified to have his No. 50 retired.
"I'm really happy for Ty," coach Roy Williams said in a prepared statement. "I think he should have qualified for the rafters by winning ACC Player of the Year. That's something I would like us to look at in the offseason."
Hansbrough in now the first men's basketball player in ACC history to earn at least one first-team All-Amerca honor in four seasons. He was a Sporting News selection in 2006 and earned consensus honors as a sophomore and junior.
"This is unprecedented in ACC history and further indication of the remarkable career this young man has had,'' Williams said. "I hope people, regardless of which shcool they pull for, will appreciate what Tyler has accomplished both individually and for his team." -- Robbi Pickeral

Hansbrough is 4 time first team all-american, Lawson is 2nd team all-american and Lawson is ACC player of the year. Who voted ?
This has to be the dumbest sportswriters on the face of the earth. And Douglas from FSU got more votes than Hansbrough ?
