Folks, Curry wasn't bragging

The Observer ran a picture of Davidson guard Stephen Curry's left shoe (it's above) in Sunday's paper, from the game in which Curry set the school's all-time scoring record. The phrase written on the shoe, in quotes, said, "I can do all things."

The comment, as pointed out by two readers, wasn't a boast by Curry, but rather an expression of his faith and humility. It comes from the Bible and Philippians 4:13, where Paul says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

If you have any knowledge of Curry, you understand that "boastful" is not in his repertoire. He is unfailingly humble and quick to give credit to his teammates and coaches. Just wanted to clear that up.

Another day and another Curry story.

I though something like this was a NCAA violation.

Having a belief and expressing it is a NCAA violation? But full tattoo sleeves of skulls, gang symbols, etc. is ok? hahaha

The NCAA rules specify the shoe can only have the manufacturers logo.

I'm about ready for Curry to average 10 points a game in the NBA and be done with this stuff. I'm sure he's a nice kid and all this attention has got to get embarrassing at some point.

I wonder sometimes about the mindset that requires people to be killjoys.

This is what you do with your free time? Wait around until a Curry story gets published so you can badmouth him?

Man, I think UNCC needs to up its course requirements. You folks have too much spare time.

All you guys are such haters....ha ha. Get a life!! This is a local college player getting exposure in the local college paper. I'm sure the same thing happens w/ stand out players in all the other college towns.

Yeah.... These feel good stories and positivity really stink. I would much rather read an article about another Gang drive-by shooting where a 10 year old is shot in the cross fire or someone selling drugs to underage kids at school..... ***Sarcasm****

Most of the negative people on this blog really have no life and have nothing better to do than to complain... resentment at its finest
