Lawson's toe pain could linger

Remember two years ago, when the state of Tyler Hansbrough's fractured nose was one of the biggest question for Tar Heel fans entering the ACC tournament?

This time around, worry will center on the health of Ty Lawson's jammed right big toe.

Coach Roy Williams said Monday that the injury -- which the junior point guard sustained Friday when his foot connected hard with the basket support in practice -- "is something that takes a while to go away."

Williams said Lawson was in quite a bit of pain, again, Sunday night after he helped the Tar Heels beat Duke in the regular-season finale, and that the player would not go through the light shoot-around the team has planned Tuesday.

UNC, the top seed in the tournament, doesn't play again until Friday, so Lawson will have plenty of time to rest.

And at least he won't have to wear a mask, like Hansbrough did.

Lawson is 100%. Roy used that "injury" as an excuse just in case (gasp!) UNC lost to Duke on Senior Night, which they nearly did.

You Heels have to admit, you really do b!tch and whine TON about your little aches and pains.

I saw no mention on media recaps that Duke was playing without Nolan Smith, their quickest guard. Yet, they brought up Lawson's stubbed pinky toe at least 3 times.
