Ben-Eze out for post-season

Freshman forward Frank Ben-Eze's injured right knee will prevent him from playing in any of Davidson's postseason games, although the extent of the injury is not yet known.

He is having a magnetic resonance imaging test (MRI) done today to determine the damage. It is obviously severe. Ben-Eze hurt the knee in Sunday's Southern Conference tournament semifinal loss to the College of Charleston.

Ben-Eze is a highly thought-of 6-foot-9 freshman post player who was slowed to begin the decision by a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last May. But he had been improving rapidly in recent weeks, and appeared to be the heir apparent to the graduating Andrew Lovedale as an inside presence.

Davidson is expected to receive a National Invitation Tournament bid on Sunday night, which will likely lead to a home game next week.--Stan Olson
