Duke, Butler discussing rematch

Duke and Butler, which met in a heart-stopping NCAA championship game won 61-59 by the Blue Devils on Monday, might play again next season.

About a month ago, Butler was one of many schools approached by event organizers at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J., for a neutral-site game against the Blue Devils, according to Duke senior associate athletics director Mike Cragg.
Cragg said Butler is one of several schools still interested in the meeting, and event organizers approached them again about scheduling Duke this week.

Butler coach Brad Stevens told The Associated Press on Friday that the schools are talking about dates to see if they can work out a rematch. Butler, the underdog from the Horizon League, was edged by the Blue Devils in a thriller Monday.

Duke escaped with the win when Butler forward Gordon Hayward’s halfcourt shot at the buzzer hit the backboard and rim before falling out.

What would a rematch prove? Duke walked away with the national championship trophy,so unless it's for all the marbles again next year,it would be meaningless.Rematches are for the flunkies who lost the first time.DUKE..........2010 NATIONAL CHAMPS.

It will be a Universit of New Jersey at dook home game played in the Meadowlands and it won't be finalized until K makes sure he can influences Singlers draft stock enough so he will return.

Nah, it'll be in Chi-town and Chrissy Collins will do all the media, the more to rub DePaul's nose in not calling him to interview for the job Oliver Purnell got.

Bank on it.

Thing is, still not a bad showcase for Stevens and Butler.

It doesn't have to prove anything - as it would be a rematch of the championship, it would be a draw for local fans as well as a broadcast audience. That's all the Meadowlands and the networks care about - they couldn't care less who actually wins the game or if it "proves" anything.

Come on now, 2:49. Don't be bitter your team doesn't have a national fanbase like Duke does.
