Duke didn't eject FSU fans, spokesman says

It appears that neither Mike Krzyzewski nor anybody else on the Duke staff Wednesday night followed North Carolina coach Roy Williams’ lead in dealing with loud opposing fans.

Three Florida State fans who drew attention to themselves in prime, front-row baseline seats during the first half at Cameron Indoor Stadium left those seats of their own accord in the second half, according to Duke associate sports information director Matt Plizga.

Plizga said the three were not asked to leave by Duke staff members or by the outside security officers Duke hires to staff the event.

Why was this even a question?

Earlier this season, Williams sent security officers into the stands to confront a Presbyterian fan at the Smith Center who hollered from several rows behind the North Carolina bench for Deon Thompson to miss a free throw.

The fan at North Carolina was ejected. The Florida State fans at Duke were not, Plizga said.
In the first half, Duke’s fans made fun of the most demonstrative of the three Florida State fans.

The students chanted, “Harry Potter, Harry Potter” at him because his shirt resembled something worn by the movie character.

I doubt VERY SERIOUSLY they gave up those seats. This was a much less publicized ejection, but I feel sure they were asked to leave.

Remember this is the same school where the AD hid much of the info in the alledged lacrosse rape case.

The old AD is long gone. There was nothing to "hide", the accusations were lies. You must be a carolina fan....a school that gave us such classy guys like Mike Nifong and John Edwards..haha!

Don't forget Dook law gave the world the ever classy Tricky Dick Nixon so shut up about Edwards. Nixon did WAY more damage to our nation than Edwards ever could in a million years. Edwards is a liar & cheater of the first magnitude but Nixon was a sociopath.

Because everyone's experience at their university determines the quality of person they are. Right.

Back to the fan, I was at the game and I honestly thought he was hilarious. I actually ate dinner at the same restaurant he and his compadres did prior to the game, a nice little Cuban joint in Durham, near the Bulls Stadium.

Anyway, at one point a security guy did talk to him and he was well behaved for most of the game, especially after their conversation. He was just obnoxious enough to draw the attention of the student section behind him. He didn't seem to be bothering anyone, just reacted a little overzealously to a few calls that didn't go FSU's way.

I believe the spokesperson is telling the truth and that the fans left of their own accord. The only one that could've ever been ejected was "Harry Potter" in the maroon and gold striped rugby shirt. The other FSU fans sitting with him were completely well-behaved.

After seeing that guy at dinner, though, I knew he'd be a bit of trouble!

They were asked to leave. My cousin plays for FSU he said some of the guys on the bench heard the entire conversation and these guys were told they could either leave or security would not be responsible for thier safety. Do any of you to epect Duke to acknowlege this? Hopefully there is some audio and video of the situation.

WRONG! John Edwards holds season tickets for UNC basketball. And so (did) Mike Easley. And so (did) Ruffin Poole. Shall I continue? UNC-CH Law: Turning out sleazeballs for a full century.

Your cousin who plays for FSU must have amazing hearing to be on the OPPOSITE END OF THE FLOOR in a very loud Cameron Indoor Stadium to hear a conversation that was taking place on the baseline in front of the DUKE bench.

Not saying you're lying or anything...
