CHAPEL HILL — Not only will North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough’s mom be in town for his potentially record-breaking performance Thursday night — she’s in town for good.
Tami Hansbrough began a new job as the Associate Director of Development at the UNC School of Dentistry on Dec. 8. She is a fundraiser specializing in major gifts and will supervise an annual fund program; the school did not mention her All-American son in the news release announcing her hiring.
“I’ve met so many wonderful people here, that I plan on making North Carolina and Chapel Hill my home -- I plan to retire here,” said Tami Hansbrough, who received her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and has led marketing efforts related to medical organizations and outreach in the past.
As per NCAA rules, Tami Hansbrough said she did not receive any help getting the job from the athletics department. “I would never do anything to jeopardize the program; I haven’t even talked to Coach [Roy] Williams about where I’m working,” she said.
Steve Kirschner, associate athletics director in charge of athletics media relations, said the compliance office knew that Mrs. Hansbrough was moving to the area and looking for a job, “which is not the first time that a parent of a student or a student-athlete has moved to be closer to his or her child,” Kirschner said. “But we can’t help them get jobs, regardless of whether those job opportunities are with the University or not.”
There is one benefit for Tami Hansbrough, though: she won’t have to travel as far to watch Tyler play. She previously lived and worked in Mississippi, and is looking forward to watching her middle son try to break Phil Ford’s career scoring record (2,290 points) against Evansville; he needs nine more points.
“I am so excited for him — to see his success, and how hard he's worked to accomplish so much,” she said.

I believe this is called "payback" for him choosing to play basketball for the Tarheels!
i wonder if the school of dentistry will teach her the importance of breathing through your nose and not your mouth. maybe she can pass on what she learns to tyler.
Now that's what I call suspicious!!! Where are the investigators??? If she had been hired by a Vet School near by and her boy had gone elsewhere, probation would be on its way just for the appearance of a payoff... Double standard!!!
ummm.How convienent
She is trading on her sons name recognition to get herself a cushy job with the school while he is still playing for the school.
A lot of fund raisers are paid on a commission or get a bonus that is contingent on how much is raised. So an alum calls her up and pledges 10K, 9K goes to the school and the Hansbroughs get to keep 1K.
This stinks to high heaven.
Don't really care about her new job but does anyone care that while she was in Mississippi she began sleeping with a married man - who left his wife and four children for her??? Seems she has a pattern of sleeping with married men. Skanky for sure!!! Wonder if the dental school knows about this???
Hmm I wonder how she sleeps at night knowing she destroyed an entire family and that she basically has the status of a prostitute right now. Funny how karma works out though. I guess we'll just have to see how she feels when any husband of hers (although not many men like to marry sluts) leaves her for some other woman that is way uglier than her.
Keeps getting better - seems the guy that left his wife and children for her is a real skank also. He sleeps around with married women in Mississippi - other than Tami - too!!! Hope they all have been checked for those nasty STDS!!!!!! UNC should really check out character before they hire people.
Rumors???? Fine and decent woman ?- check your facts my friend - all of the above is true...Her facade will crack someday.
Seems that facade is finally cracking.....lawsuits, bankruptcy - Miss Tami must face the consequences.......
Sounds like this "anonymous" person is very unstable. I hope you are still in therapy you need it!
That's nice and this calls for another article of observation from you. Thank you for sharing this to us.
Good to see that they are being for the up-going things and hiring new Dental for more better services, These will further proved to be better in future as well. dental schools in europe
