Williams expects Graves to return to Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina coach Roy Williams said he fully expects wing Will Graves – who was suspended last February — to be court when the team opens practice in October.
He said Graves hasn’t been “re-instated,” per se, because the suspension was only for the remainder of last season.

"He’s got some conditions he’s got to take care of, and if he takes care of those conditions, he’ll be on our team Oct. 16 or 15th, whatever that Friday is," Williams said. "I’m under the assumption that he’s going to do what he was asked to do, and he’ll be out there on Oct. 15."

Williams said the player made "great grades" in both of his first-session summer school courses. “He’s down in the weight room right now, and he’s doing exactly what he’s supposed to do."

Graves averaged 4 points and 11.2 minutes on last year’s national title team before he was suspended for breaking an unspecified team rule. His return is key for the Tar Heels because they have so few other perimeter players returning.

That's great news! Since there are 4 front page UNC-CH stories in today's Charlotte Observer / Daily Tar Heel, can you make 5th? Go Heels!

You must have no life if all you do is look for an article about the Heels so you can complain. Maybe if whatever LOSER school you're from was worthy of headlines you would see more from them and less from the Heels.

Until then, would you like cheese with that whine??????

Good point. The Tarlotte Observer continues to miss the boat. No wonder circulation is down across the state. Tomorrow there will be stories on "Hansfranz finds chair in Green Room" and "Dean Dome Roof gets much needed Waxing". And a Tarhole cannot project the Wine and Cheese stigma. There are some constants in this Universe and that is one of them. Zygote.

Yes, this is a legitimate complaint.

Anonymous at 3:36.....For the last two days you have been complaining about the UNC stories...Are you so stupid that you have not figured out a way to quit reading the stories. If you want ot read stories about NC State try Agriculture Daily, If you want to read stories about Duke try a paper from New Jersey. If you want to rad about THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS keek readig The Observer.

Wow, the ABC'ers are out with their hate. Perhaps when the other NC teams actually accomplish something newsworthy, it will be written.

Is Tyler going to drive his brand new car all by himself to New York City?

TAR........HOLES

Get a journalism program at your school worth a crap and then you can have some presence at the Observer.

The Tar Hole fans are actually right. There's nothing else Duke, Wake or State has done to captivate ANYONE on a national level. It sucks, but it's right.

That being said, I want my continuous coverage if Wake goes back to the Orange Bowl.

Hmm...sure would have been notable if UNC could have won THEIR OWN CONFERENCE last year.

"Hmm...sure would have been notable if UNC could have won THEIR OWN CONFERENCE last year."

Seriously Mr. Anonymous? You are grasping at that the ACC Tournament, a 3 round tournament where Carolina was playing without the ACC player of the year and far and away the most important player in Carolina's style.

You are obviously a Duke fan, and if Duke had: (i) 3 first round picks (or even more than one player) in the draft, (ii) had been past the Sweet 16 more than 1 time over the last 8 seasons, (iii) been more than an after-thought to Carolina over the last 5 years, or (iv) actually been able to beat its arch-rival on its often ballyhooed home court over the last 4 seasons, some of the papers might notice.

Sorry, but until K can start recruiting the type of players and create a team that can compete consistently with what Roy has re-built at Carolina, you are going to have to sit back and read everything that comes out of NC paper and national outlets. Things are changing any time soon.

OMG!! some of you are just soooo anal about NOTHING. So what Carolina is talked about more in the Observer than other schools. IT'S A POPULAR SCHOOL. And obviously more popular than the other NC Colleges (Duke, WF, NC State, ECU, App St.) And who cares they didn't win their own conference. Goes to show what's more important to some of you. Roy did a good job, resting the STAR player for Caolina, in order to make it to the Title Game. Would rather have that than the Conference Trophy ANY DAY!! I've travelled all over this country, and you can buy Carolina Gear in almost ANY state. Now back to the story........Looks like Carolina and Duke will be hurt'n at the "Perimeter" position this year. But it's Carolina....they'll still make the tourny, and maybe even the Final Four.
