Haze Hansbrough? Duke alums give up

You'd think the former Duke players on the Indiana Pacers roster -- Mike Dunleavy, Dahntay Jones and Josh McRoberts -- would have a field day hazing rookie North Carolina alum Tyler Hansbrough, but apparently Hansbrough's demeanor has made that impossible.

From an SI.com profile of Hansbrough and his typically intense early NBA career, an excerpt:

The downside of Hansbrough's automaton intensity? Rookie hazing is no fun for his teammates. He goes about the usual chores of bringing newspapers and donuts, but the trash talk has no impact. And why anger someone who's so eager to dish out punishment in practice?

Even the three former Duke players -- Dunleavy, Josh McRoberts and Dahntay Jones -- have given up.

"He doesn't take crap from anybody, so we'd be wasting our breath," Dunleavy said.

How is that Henderson draft pick doing in for yah!

It is probably because he has the IQ of a tree squirrel. He doesn't get it. Just look at the blank look on his face. DUH!

Tyler not smart? Guess he should go driving without a seatbelt, like B. Hurley, or hop on a motorcycle despite a restriction in his contract, like Jason Williams. What smart guys they are. Then there was Laettner who started giving a hard time to the new draft pick, Kevin Garnett. He was gone the next week. What smart guys !

Hansjob is queer...

What? 9:26...you are too

Which one of those dookies actually graduated?

Is this story correct - I find it hard to believe that 3 "boys" from Duke are still in the NBA.

Tyler can honestly say he never has lost a came at Cameron - something that Coach Kski, Bobby Brady - I mean Hurley, Christian Davis - dadgum I did it again, I mean Laettner - none of them can.

That is because Hansbrough played 4 games in Cameron, you idiot. I pretty sure Coach K, Hurley, and the rest had a 4 game win streak in Cameron at some time, which is essentially what Bug Eyes did.

What?? Josh McClown is still in the NBA?? HAHA!! Now that's news. Maybe because those dudes can't hold Tylers strap and they know it.

Always nice to see the Tarheel Times, uh...I mean Observer, take a shot at Duke. Top notch reporting once again.

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:52 - That may be true, but no Duke grad has won an NBA ring to date...

Look it up Dookie.

Anon 10:21 - There may be more Duke grads in the NBA than any other school, but no Blue Devil has ever won an NBA ring.
Look it up Dookie.

And Duke also is tied for most with UCLA and that's a whopping one player (14 v. 13).

And sorry to burst the Heals bubble but Danny Ferry has a ring with the Spurs...

Anonymous said...

actually there are more than 3 in the nba duke has the highest 13 to unc 12

of course they cant faze him...did it work in college? theres a reason he didnt lose @ cameron. mental toughness. and it doesnt take mental toughness to deal wit 'hazing' from dookies. we're talkin typical underachieving duke bball players. they do aight in college, get to nba, and fizzle like a sparkler on the 4th of july. who cares how many dookies r in the nba? they dont do anything once they get there neway. danny ferry? thats ur great equalizer??? haha, thats more of a joke than a duke players nba career. good try though. haters hafta hate, thats ur job dookies, so please dont stop. u fuel people like hansbrough etc. many thanks, and BIG UPS..to all the haaaters.

Duke players also lead the league in overall contract worth as well...smart fellas to boot. When it comes down to it thats the name of the game tarholes...dam yall are ignorant! Go back to your shift work your break is just about over...

Anonymous said...

Back to my shift? Oh right, as soon as my vacation is over. However, in the meantime I think I'll have a couple of the entry-level Duke grads reporting to me stay a bit later tomorrow night. I'll be sure to send your compliments.....Happy Holidays to the Arrogant University of New Jersey at Durham grads whom are so superior.

Love the NBA argument! I guess when you become mediocre you have to GOOGLE SEARCH ways to be better than UNC.

Unwritten rule in the NBS: Losers are not allowed to haze WINNERS!

Yeah, he's doing things like jumping off a house instead. What a brilliant individual.

say what u want about Josh McRoberts..he made 880k last year

uncfan50 said...

Honestly jumping off the roof of a house into a pool thats dumb given. But you know Sheldon Williams guy with the biggest forehead in history. Got so drunk at a UNC frat party he passed out and had pictures posted on the internet of him being teabagged by Carolina fans. Now who indeed is dumber? Also Danny Ferry really? dont make Michael Jordan have to come over there and smack you with his good ring hand.

This is one of those small windows of time in which dook has more players currently in the nba. doesnt happen often and won't last.
look it up year by year.

UNC owns dook period.

Dear UNC,

Thanks a lot for helping our country reclaim the Gold last year after Tar Heel Larry Brown embarrassed us in 2004.

Oh, wait...there were no UNC players on the Redeem Team! No coaches either! Sorry, I was thinking of DUKE.

ROY WILLIAMS: "Hey, 12:24 pm...I WAS COACHING that embarrassment of an Olympic Team in '04 as well (I was Larry Brown's minion). Tar Hole pride!!! As a matter of fact, get the F*** out of this board. Yes, I'm talking to you".

By my count UNC alumni have 28 NBA championship rings as players, 2 as coaches, and 3 as general managers.
Included in the players awards are 7 NBA Finals MVP awards.
Duke alumni have 2 NBA championship rings as players, one of the lowest totals in the ACC. Ga Tech, NC State, Clemson, Fla St, Wake all have more. Neither of the two Duke players (Mullins, Ferry) winning a NBA championship ring scored in double figures. Ferry never got off the bench when any finals game was being decided.

Not sure how this got into an '90s championships arguement...

But name me a CURRENT Holes starting five that beats Duhon-Maggette-Deng-Boozer-Brand.

And don't you dare say Stackhouse or Rasheed...this isn't 2001 and they avg single-digit point totals.

OK Jamison, Carter.... you're trailing off, I can't hear you Holes!

Anonymous said...

11:48: This is problem with you Dookies. You think we couldn't start Stackhouse, concede he won't score as much as Maggette, and still win a team game. That's the same reason K can't beat the Heels. He can't assemble a team that wins.

Also, the list of Dookies in the NBA is probably wrong. Shav got cut a week or so ago.
