UNC championship court on sale Friday

Beginning this week, fans can buy a small slab of Tar Heel history.

Pieces of the 2009 Final Four court — upon which North Carolina blew out Michigan State last month for its fifth NCAA title — will go on sale at tarheelblue.com tomorrow.

A 6x6 square costs $149; a 12x12 square is $225. Plus, 200 limited edition pieces, autographed by coach Roy Williams and several other members of the title team, will run you $499.

"What an outstanding memory to grab hold of from the Tar Heels’ victory in Detroit.” Gary Sobba, general manager of Tar Heel Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder of UNC athletics, said in a prepared statement.

Steiner Sports Memorabilia also plans to also craft everything from cuff links to keychains out of the wood to sell around the winter holidays, as well, said Pete Kelly of Steiner Sports.

The center jump circle -- about 600 feet of the 7,200 square foot court -- has been donated to the athletics department and will likely go on display in UNC's basketball museum.

and with a polo shirt, flip flops, a lack of basketball knowledge and a 6 pack of BL's you can become a tar heel fan

Jesus Christ!!! You think they will "Roll Back" prices later on when they go on sale at Wal-Mart?

Could our "Local" Paper promote a school 3 hours away ANYMORE?

If there are alumni or fans, let them read THEIR TEAMS LOCAL PAPER!

WE
DONT
CARE!

Poor haters... I care and I am loving it!!! If you don't want to read it don't click on it.

Hmmm! Can you spell SOUR GRAPES?
Sounds like Anonymous went to a school that didn't win anything!

STOP the crying losers. Just because your team hasn't won a championship in forever, doesn't mean you can hate on Carolina. IF you don't like the story, don't be dumb enough to read it! Am I connecting with you yet? Keep trying, MAYBE you'll figure it out. Keep in mind, if you don't like sushi, you don't eat sushi. Does that make it more clear?????

for the rest of you posers, at least your gear is cheap at wal mart!

I'm assuming that 6 by 6 means six inches. I can't imagine it would be six square feet, but good writing should not leave me making assumptions.

Obviously not a UNC graduate if he had to ponder the size. Hopefully you didn't hurt yourself coming to that conclusion.

I'll take Wal Mart selling Tar Heel gear any day compared to not selling your sorry school's gear at all. Nothing worse the being NOT TALKED ABOUT ie: Duke, Wake, NCSU....when you hate on us you look so pathertic. Well get use to it losers.

And on another front, a red and white team from Raleigh FINALLY won something last night. Way to make Raleigh proud 'Canes. NSCU sure doesn't.

And as far as Puke goes...when you get up to 6 National Championships, then you can run your mouth. Until then, know your role homos.

And the answer is YES, we can promotre the school more. Which team to you prefer the "local" paper cover? UNCC or Wingate? Moron.

Sorry for the typos on Pathetic and Promote....spent the evening with dumbed down State fans thinking that since the Hurricanes are Red & White, use the same building, and are in Raleigh that they some how have a reason to feel good. Well you don't. Sidney still sucks and it's not 1983 anymore. Identity crisis in full effect.

Its not like this is a story about a shotty new york school football program who is getting a rat face for a quaterback. Quit hating, this is the Tar Heel state!

UNC stands for University of NORTH CAROLINA. Since we live in NORTH CAROLINA and there is very little going on in sports, locally and nationally, they should continue to talk about the Heels. What else do you want to read about? Michael Phelps taking bong hits after practice or Peppers not coming to practice? I know... how about a story about Paulus changing back to football since K already has one Wojo on his bench and doesnt need another. Sorry Duke fans but get over it. If Henderson stays in the draft its gonna be a long season.

To those of you who don't realize; there are more Tarheel fans in this area, then there are in the rest of the state. That's why they get so much press. I'm not hating on the other great schools in NC, but I do love the HEELS!!
