Former Duke guard Jon Scheyer to play in Spain

Former Duke guard Jon Scheyer will play the 2012-2013 season with CB Gran Canaria, a club located in Spain's Canary Islands, according to a release from the team.

CB Gran Canaria plays in la Liga Endesa, Spain's first-tier leagues, which includes FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Scheyer, who is Jewish, played sparingly last season in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv. He left the team in March, telling the New York Times that his time overseas had been "frustrating."

Scheyer appeared in three games this summer for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA summer league, averaging 3.1 points and 1.2 rebounds.

Hmmm, a Duke player who couldn't hack it in the NBA. Shocking...

9:49PM,

You're either gravely misinformed or, FAR more likely, a salty UNCheat fan.

Duke has 19 players in the NBA, more than any school except Kentucky. Do you keep up with basketball?

I know things aren't going well at that school you got waitlisted at, but UNC will be back in no time! Don't worry...

Ha nice try 9:49 pm...your argument may have been fresh in 1993, but not today.

In the past year alone Duke's pumped out the Rookie of the Year (Irving), All-Stars (Deng), NBA Champions (Battier), and Team USA's Golden coach (K).

If you are indeed a Carolina fan, don't be upset that...

...there hasn't been a UNC NBA All-Star in 5 years

...no one connected to UNC has been involved in the Olympics since the Larry Brown/Roy Williams debacle in '04...

...Harrison Barnes was a bust

...UNC's best current NBA player (Ty Lawson) plays for the Nuggets and splits time at the point with Andre Miller

Let me know when a Tar Heel does something relevant in the NBA again, been a while...

oh that is such a big surprise to me, I thought that he was already retired; however, I am happy he is playing again!
