Roy Williams: 3 Tar Heels weigh NBA options

Roy Williams said Friday that three North Carolina players, James Michael McAdoo, P.J. Hairston and Reggie Bullock, are weighing early entry into the NBA, and that they have not yet completed that process.

Williams, during a radio interview with WFNZ-610AM’s Taylor Zarzour, said:

"I think it's still up in the air but we're much much closer to having all of them back than we were last year. They are all enjoying school, they are all still hungry to do more and there is nobody that is a guaranteed top-10 pick. We still have to continue going through the process, allowing those guys to make decisions, and in my mind some of them have already been made just about, but we're going to wait until all three are done so we can just have one announcement."

Bullock, a junior, averaged 13.9 points and shot 43.6 percent from 3-point range this season.  McAdoo, a sophomore, averaged 14.4 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds. Hairston, a sophomore, averaged 14.6 points and shot 39.6 percent from 3-point range.

Only McAdoo is considered a first-round pick in most mock drafts.

The NBA early-entry deadline is April 28.

I don't think anyone on the Heel's roster should even think about jumping to the NBA. McAdoo has a nice mid range jump shot, but seems to disappear in the 2nd half and needs to improve FT shooting. Bullock isn't that consistent at shooting, or even someone an NBA team would look at. PJ has a nice shot and works hard, but I'd like to see him stick around another year and improve that much more.

Bullock is gone. He has a baby to take care of, and his mom still lives in the worst neighborhood in Kinston. He is a legit scorer and shooter and will be a 1st round pick.

McAdoo would've gotten big money last year if he had gone, but he made the (financial) mistake of coming back and showing a lot of his weaknesses. He's a strong power forward, but he plays like a finesse guy. He will most likely return for his junior year.

Hairston is the best prospect of the 3. I could see him going and being a top-20 pick, or coming back for another year. But I doubt his stock gets much higher.

And for the author, there are literally dozens and dozens of mock drafts. Players' predicted positions vary by as much as 30 positions depending on which mock you look at. So McAdoo isn't the only player projected in the 1st round. Also this year's draft is by all accounts a "weak" draft, meaning players that wouldn't normally leave early might this year. See NC State's players going early.

Foolishness!

None of them seem ready. It is sad to see so many go early and you never hear from them again.

they would definitely get a lot more money if they returned, also more experience. They would enjoy being a better team next year also and would probably go very far in tournament, maybe win it all, would definitely be top ACC team if the 3 come back.
