CHAPEL HILL — Today is April 16. So you know what that means: It’s time to talk 2012-13 NCAA men's basketball tournament projections.
Joe Lunardi, the noted ESPN.com NCAA tournament bracketologist, has released his first projection of the preseason. (Is it even late enough in the year to consider this the “preseason?” I digress.)
Lunardi has UNC as the No. 2 seed in the East region, playing against No. 15 Vermont in Philadelphia. Of course, the Tar Heels defeated Vermont in the second round of the tournament last month in Greensboro, so this would be a highly-anticipated grudge match.
Among other ACC teams, Lunardi’s first projection includes Duke as a No. 3 seed in the South, N.C. State as a No. 4 seed in the Midwest, Miami as a No. 8 seed in the South and Florida State as a No. 12 seed in the West. Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisville are your No. 1 seeds, with UNC in Louisville’s region.
It’s fun to talk about … but I’d hold off on making those reservations for Philadelphia.

Unbelievable! Tar holes provided so much dissappointment for their brainwashed "fans" that they already have a story about what they will do next year. The ignorance involved with so many North Carolinians supporting (buying ugly blue apparrel, saying they are fans, get pissed when unc-ch looses, etc) truly amazes me. Most of these same "fans" couldn't tell you where chapel hell is located, let alone have enough sense to, heaven help them, go to school there. There is no other university in this country with a PR machine like like the one at unc-ch. I am sorry for the other public universities in Wilmington, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Asheville for having to share "unc" with ch. NC public tv is even call "unc-tv". Why can the citizens of the NC, and other people around the world, that have no affiliation with any of the public schools not see the bias.

In all honesty, there is no way I see this happening. Roy under performs when he is stacked with mickey D talent....and he is going to be thin next year. No way this happens unless he becomes some kinda great coach in the next year.

Fla St - big victory in tallehasee and an ACC tournament title then a collapse, as usual, in the NCAA. Too bad they can't beat any teams outside the ACC. This is a team that loses to preseason cupcakes and they want to talk trash. Wait until you actually do something in the NCAAs.
NC State - Gottfried looks like a coach and he clearly got a lot more out of the players he had than Lowe. But I would like it if the State fans wait until they accomplish something before deciding that Gottfried is not going to have a couple of good seasons then go down hill like he did at Alabama. Maybe when the 1-17 recent record against UNC gets to something like 10-20 State fans would have some basis for comments other than pulling it out of somewhere in space.

Wow...even as a Duke fan, I know that there's no question State, Duke, and UNC should be reversed in such rankings. Ol' Huckleberry will drown in his tears trying to coach that no-talent team. It'll be 2010 all over. Maybe McAdoo will be excited to win the NIT instead of having gotten millions as a top five pick. Awful, awful decision.

The telling thing about the majority of these comments is that the authors:
#1 - Choose to be 'Anonymous
#2 - Have nothing positive to list for their own teams of choice and have to resort to trying to rag on Carolina.
#3 - Can only point out 1 bad season Carolina has had, and the fact they choose the 2010 season when Carolina lost the majority of their championship team early to the NBA and still managed to win 20 games to rag on when most other Division I teams in NC, with the exception of Dook, don't have as many 20 win seasons since the turn of the century as Carolina has had in 2010, 2011, and 2012!
C'mon all you ABC'ers, at least refer to the 2003 season when Carolina had a truly horrible season! And even then, we managed to win it all just 2 years later!

I'm not an ACC fan, but for some reason everything about UNC --- their girly blue color, their corrupt academic reputation, their delusional fanbase --- makes me want to vomit.
