McKillop: No contact from Virginia Tech

Davidson basketball coach Bob McKillop's name is one of many that have been mentioned in conjunction with the opening at Virginia Tech in the aftermath of coach Seth Greenberg's dismissal Monday.
McKillop, who has been head coach at Davidson since 1989, said Tuesday he has not been contacted about the Virginia Tech job.
"No one has talked to me," McKillop said. "It's an intriguing situation. It's in the ACC and it's a great school."
Speculation at Virginia Tech immediately focused on three in-state college coaches, Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth, Chris Mooney of Richmond and Old Dominion's Blaine Taylor.
McKillop has been busy since the Wildcats' season ended with a first-round loss to eventual Final Four participant Louisville. He said the Wildcats' 2012-13 schedule is nearing completion and includes a Jan. 2 game against Duke in Time Warner Cable Arena, a Thanksgiving weekend tournament in Orlando, Fla., with Vanderbilt, Gonzaga, West Virginia, Clemson and others, as well as road games at Richmond and Penn.
McKillop said no date has been set for Davidson's annual game against the Charlotte 49ers. He is also trying to line up a game for the Wildcats in New York's Madison Square Garden.

Davidson can go ahead and pencil in a victory against UNCC. That program is a complete joke! They will probably beat Duke as well, as they'll be the 5th best team in the ACC this year...Go Wildcats!

yeah right, if they beat Charlotte that would mean they only need to do it 16 consecutive MORE years in order to even the all-time series up with the Niners.......lol

I think that "joke" of a team just beat Davidson by 23 points a couple months ago.....it was a MAJOR ace-whippin.

FACTS: UNCC finished 11th out of 14teams in a weak conference. 5-11 in conference play. 13-17 overall-losing record. This program was once decent, and now look at it. I predict they will be worse this year. Sad. Just sad...Lol

McKillop seems like a good coach. The one thing working against him would be his age. VT will probably look at up and coming coaches like the guy from Richmond.

I would love to see McKillop coach VT personally...altough I don't think it matters who coaches them, they'll never be a Top 5 team in basketball in the ACC. Now if VT was in the Atlantic 10, they would always be a Top 3 team.

VT - PLEASE hire Bobby Lutz so we can get him off the 49er payroll and save us $500,000!!

A-10 is better than what the southern? lol davidson would struggle in the A-10 as well, i mean wow a 5-11 team from the A-10 beat davidson by what 23pts. lol I thought Davidson was at least known for being smart, maybe not so much....

Love how all these third-tier schools like VaTech try and go after guys like Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens. Those two are bolting only for a Top 5-type program...realize that.

I think you're on to something: we should definitely be judging team and overall conference strength by what happens in a single, early-season game. It works out great for you Charlotte fans thanks to Davidson's January win over Kansas. So it turns out that --

A-10 > Southern > Big 12

I always knew the Big 12 was a garbage league, but now we have statistical proof! Thanks UNCC fan logic!
